OUR STORY
Transformations often ignite from a singular moment
For Mikki, that moment arrived at the tender age of seven when her father, Ronald, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. This life-altering event revealed a critical barrier to equitable healthcare access—the nearest MRI machine was a staggering 500 kilometers from their small town of Sudbury, Ontario. Despite the distance and the challenge of caring for two young children, her parents were unwavering in their commitment to flying back and forth for vital MR imaging.
A profound legacy
In the midst of her father's battle with cancer Mikki witnessed the relentless support of a Radiation Therapist and care team who stood by him every step of the way. This experience became the catalyst for her career in healthcare, which she entered determined to break down barriers to equitable care.
One of her early achievements was rallying with her family and community to successfully advocate and fundraise for Sudbury's first MRI scanner—a significant milestone.
At Determify we envision and actively work towards a world where every individual, no matter where they are or who they are, can receive the exceptional care they deserve.
What’s in the name? Determify stems from the word, “determination,” which has been our ethos from the beginning. The letter “r” is always emphasized in honour of Mikki’s father, Ronald.
